Walking Football
Walking football: football with no running and no high balls. For anyone who wants to get back into playing or keep on playing.
How Walking Football works
This version of the game comes from England, where it was invented in 2011. The DFB (German Football Association) recommends it for all generations, for newcomers and returners, and for former footballers, because the risk of injury is low.
Walk, don't run
Running is not allowed, with or without the ball. One foot always stays on the ground.
Keep the ball low
No passes or shots above hip height.
No slide tackles
Slide tackles are banned, and physical contact remains the exception.
Small pitch
Six-a-side on a small pitch, small goals with no goalkeeper, no offside.
In Uevekoven since December 2019: back then, the Fußball-Verband Mittelrhein (Middle Rhine Football Association) brought a campaign day to our ground under the motto “Bewegt ÄLTER werden und GESUND bleiben” (“Grow OLDER actively and stay HEALTHY”). Since then the group has met every Wednesday, and after the game everyone sits together in the clubhouse.
