Das Labor
The sign says “En de Meer”, but at the club it's simply called Das Labor (German for “the lab”). The members built it themselves. Since 1982, this is where everyone who belongs to the Sportfreunde comes together.

Built with our own hands
Members put more than 10,000 hours into this building before it was finished in 1982.
Nobody got an hourly wage for it. Put those hours into full-time terms and you get a good five years. They were shared out across many shoulders in the village.
In 1996, someone started a fire in Das Labor. The building was badly damaged. The club rebuilt it.
The club magazine shows how firmly the name has stuck. Since May 2013 it has been called “Labor & more”. On 13 November 2015, a hiking club was even founded here: the Edelweiß Laboranten.
Why “Labor”, anyway?
Nobody really knows. That just means there are all the more stories and myths, and anyone who sits at the bar long enough will hear more than one of them.

The heart of the club
Whenever there is something to discuss or celebrate at the Sportfreunde, it happens in Das Labor. This is what a normal week looks like.
Thursday & Friday

Bar for everyone who doesn't want to head home after training just yet.
Sunday
10:00–14:00
Frühschoppen (late-morning Sunday drinks). The senior teams' crew is behind the bar.
Meeting day
19:00
When the board meets, it meets here, at the table in Das Labor.
Everyone meets here
Young and old. Thick and thin. Boss and apprentice. Landesliga and Kreisliga C.
At the bar, nobody asks what you do for a living. The Bambini parents sit next to the walking footballers, and newcomers next to people who have been part of it for decades. If you're new, the best time to drop by is a Wednesday evening.
